For those completing 4th grade through Adults

Camp of the Heart: an autistic/mental retardation/Down’s Syndrome camp. This camp is designed for anyone with these types of disabilities! You will enjoy many different activities while at camp, including: games, singing, dancing, crafts, walks, nature, and a lot of fun. The camp will be in Michaux Lodge which is totally handicap accessible. We will have several volunteers on hand, but if you are willing to come with your loved one and if you think they will need your presence you may do so for only $25. Kara Druckenmiller, the director, is a certified special education teacher who has worked with handicapped people in many different environments. She will be looking at the needs of each individual and designing the camp to meet their needs so each individual is able to have a good time. To help in this process, please include with your registration a one page description of the individual: disability, independence level, medical needs, likes and dislikes and if someone will be staying with the individual. This experience will be a growing, enriching, spiritual experience for everyone involved!
